Top-Ranked Tampa Pulls Away From #7 UIndy with Fourth-Quarter Run

TAMPA, Fla. – The No. 7 UIndy women's lacrosse team suffered a 16-11 loss to top-ranked Tampa on Thursday afternoon.
 
The Spartans scored 10 second-half goals, including six in the fourth quarter to pull away from the Greyhounds.
 
Olivia Bladon logged five points, scoring three times while also recording five ground balls and four draw controls.
 
INS & OUTS
It was a back-and-forth battle for the first 35 minutes before Tampa pulled away from UIndy. The Spartans scored 10 consecutive goals during a second-half stretch, holding the Hounds scoreless for nearly 15 minutes.
 
Sage Da Silva and Kendall Conrad added late goals before Bladon capped off her fifth hat trick of the season with 37 seconds remaining.
 
UIndy led at halftime, with Malaena Michielin upping the visitors' advantage to 8-6 early in the third quarter. Emily Ghazal and Caroline Krauch each scored first-half goals, while Megan Ghert opened the Greyhound scoring less than three minutes into the opening frame with an assist from Bladon.
 
Seven of Ava Graham's 10 saves came in the final 30 minutes, as the Spartans peppered the sophomore goalkeeper with 17 of their 26 shots on goal after the break.
 
INSIDE THE BOX
- Michielin joined Bladon with a team-high four draw controls, while tallying her first two-goal game of the season.
- Half of Graham's stops were on free-position attempts by Tampa, which scored three times on eight chances.
- Freshman defender Hadlee DeCampos was credited with one caused turnover on Thursday.
- UIndy was whistled for nine fouls and carded 11 times compared to Tampa's four and five, respectively.

The Greyhounds face one more ranked opponent in the Sunshine State, visiting No. 16 Flagler on Saturday evening at 7 p.m. in St. Augustine, Fla.
