INDIANAPOLIS – The No. 7 UIndy women's lacrosse team returned to the win column on Friday evening with a dominating 21-0 win over Davis & Elkins College at Key Stadium.
Â
Friday marked the first-ever meeting with the Senators, who remain winless this season, including 0-2 against GLVC opponents.
Â
Thirteen Hounds tallied a point, with
Olivia Bladon,
Sage Da Silva, and
Lucy Sander each recording hat tricks.
Â
INS & OUTS
It took a little more than 11 minutes for UIndy to start the running clock with a double-digit advantage, as
Megan Ghert put an exclamation point on the evening. Bladon netted her hat trick in the first nine minutes of action, while junior
Malaena Michielin joined in on the fun with a goal just 38 seconds after assisting on
Kendall Conrad's score.
Â
Sander earned the hat trick, but fellow freshman
Maggie Durkin also saw key minutes and took advantage. The Riverside, Ill., native added two ground balls to her first goal since Feb. 23 against Walsh.
Â
UIndy dominated possession, allowing just three total shots by Davis & Elkins. The Greyhound ride proved fatal to the Senators, as nine of the visitors' 19 turnovers came on clear chances. The Greyhounds were credited with 10 caused turnovers, led by
Amanda Hurry's three. Â
Â
Twelve players scooped up at least one ground ball, including
Elle Cimini,
Hadlee DeCampos, and
Caroline Krauch. In total, UIndy outnumbered D&E in the category, 21-7.
Â
INSIDE THE BOX
- Junior netminder
Lylian Iman made two saves in the final 45 minutes of action, earning her second-career win.
-
Emily Ghazal and
Alexa Versaci joined Ghert with a team-high two assists. The duo also scored one goal apiece.
- Only four cards were issued on Friday – all against the Greyhounds.
Ally Savino scored a woman-down goal in the fourth quarter, upping her game total to two.
- Bladon's name is all over the box score; the junior finished with six draw controls, four ground balls, three goals, one assist, and one caused turnover.
Â
MORE NOTES
The team's 11 goals scored in the first quarter is the most by the Greyhounds in a single frame since the NCAA moved to periods in 2022 … keepers
Ava Graham and Iman combined for the Hounds' third shutout in program history and their first since April 2021 … during the dominating first quarter,
Hollis Rang picked off an errant Senator pass before leading the charge downfield to dish out an assist on Versaci's lone goal.
