INDIANAPOLIS – The No. 1-seed UIndy softball team wrapped up an unbeaten run through the NCAA DII Midwest Regional Saturday, topping fourth-seeded Saginaw Valley, 8-5. Twice trailing by two runs, the Greyhounds completed the comeback with the go-ahead hit in the fifth inning for the third straight day.

UP NEXT
UIndy moves on to the NCAA DII Midwest Super Regional and will again play host. The Hounds will welcome the winner of the other Midwest Regional, with the McKendree/Rockhurst matchup concluding tomorrow. The Super Regional will be a best-of-three series scheduled for Thursday and Friday, May 21-22.

INS & OUTS
For the third time in as many games, the turning point came in the bottom of the fifth for the Hounds. After pushing across the equalizer in the fourth inning on a bases-loaded walk by
Josie Jager,
Brooklyn Willis delivered the go-ahead hit with a two-run single to make it 6-4 UIndy.

Two more Greyhounds came across in the sixth before the defense stomped out a would-be rally in the top of the seventh to earn the victory and advance to Supers.

Along the way,
Cheyenne Eads was plunked twice, upping her hit-by-pitch total to 37 on the season to reset a 14-year-old Division II record.

Eads also garnered the win in the circle. She shook off a three-run SVSU homer in the top of the second to secure her DII-leading 31st win of the season. Freshman Cailtin Bunte took over with two down in the seventh, retiring the lone batter she faced to earn her second save of the week.

Willis started the game with a bang, hitting a leadoff home run in the bottom of the first. She upped her school-record homer total to 21 in the process.
Cara Cooper drove in two runs,
Paige Vickery scored three times, while
Emma Piercy and
Sydney Oliver each had a triple.
NOTES
- UIndy upped its win total to 59, one shy of the program record set in 2024.
- The upcoming Super Regional appearance marks the fourth straight for UIndy and eighth overall.
Shelby Cook is set to be the first player in program history to make four consecutive Super Regional appearances.
