Jillian Howley

Howley just finished her second season at the helm of the Greyhounds, after being named the program's inaugural head coach in 2014.

Under her guidance, the second-year program soared to new heights in 2017, more than doubling its win total from a season ago by finishing 13-5 overall and 5-2 in the GLIAC. The Greyhounds finished third in the conference standings, defeating Findlay 13-7 in the quarterfinal for the program's first GLIAC tournament victory.

Howley mentored the 2017 GLIAC Attacker of the Year in Chalane Morrison, and saw four others join her on the All-GLIAC teams. Morrison and freshman Riley McClure were the program's first-ever All-GLIAC First Team recipients, and Morrison went on to earn IWLCA All-Region Second Team honors.

In the 2016 inaugural season, the young Hounds clawed their way to a 6-12 record. Directing a team comprised primarily of freshmen, Howley's club posted a 4-8 record in GLIAC play, which was good for the five-seed in the conference tournament.

After being shutout in the program opener to perennial powerhouse Lindenwood, UIndy returned to the Circle City to play host to Urbana at Key Stadium for the first time. The Hounds cruised to a 17-3 win and celebrated their first win in program history.

In her first season, Howley guided four Greyhounds to All-Conference selections. In addition to Morrison and Mackenzie who each earned All-GLIAC Second Team recognition, freshman defender Trisha Koning was also a Second Team selection and sophomore attacker Anna Rulapaugh was recognized as an Honorable Mention honoree.

The conference recognition didn't stop there, however, as freshman goaltender Irene Carlquist was dubbed the GLIAC Freshman of the Year. Carlquist posted 164 saves on the season, second most among conference goalies.

Prior to joining the Greyhounds, Howley was Head Coach at Lake Erie College.

After inheriting a team that was 3-13 the year before her arrival, Lake Erie posted a 7-10 overall record in Howley's first season (2012), setting a school record for scoring in the process.

In just her second campaign in 2013, she led the Storm to 13 victories, tying the school’s single-season record. This past spring, Howley’s squad reached their second consecutive Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament semifinal, and finished second in the regular season standings. Howley mentored 2014 GLIAC Attacker of the Year Ashriel West, along with three other All-GLIAC athletes.

Before arriving in Painesville, Ohio, Howley made stops at D-II Bloomsburg (Pa.) and Mercyhurst (Pa.).

In her only season at Bloomsburg, Howley helped the Huskies to a 10-7 overall record, a No. 14 national ranking and quarterfinal appearance in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Tournament.

As a graduate assistant coach with the lacrosse team at Mercyhurst, the Lakers posted a 16-2 mark and reached the quarterfinals of PSAC Tournament in 2010. The squad was also nationally ranked, peaking at No. 5.

Howley was a four-year letter-winner in both lacrosse and field hockey at Robert Morris University. She played in all 66 games in her lacrosse career, making 61 starts, and is fifth on the school's all-time scoring list (72 goals, 89 points).

Howley was a freshman during the Colonials' second year and helped the team post a winning record by her senior year.  During her final year, she received the team's Colonial Award and was a team captain in field hockey.

A native of East Northport, N.Y., Howley has also worked as a coach with several girls lacrosse clubs in Pittsburgh and on Long Island.

She is a 2009 graduate of Robert Morris with a bachelor's degree in sport management, and earned a Master of Business Administration at Lake Erie in 2013.

Howley is married to UIndy men’s lacrosse coach Greg Stocks.
