Coach Todd Sturgeon: (DePauw 88), 95-69 (.579), sixth year. Sturgeon has guided the Greyhounds to their third NCAA II Tournament berth in eight years. His squads have recorded nine winning seasons in the past 10 years and six straight Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament berths.

NCAA-bound! Indianapolis is making its third NCAA II Tournament appearance in eight years and its first since 1997. The Greyhounds reached the second round in both previous NCAA trips in 1996 and 1997.

The Hounds defeated Lake Superior State in their D-II Tournament debut in 1996, 105-81, before falling to host Southern Indiana, 75-71, in round two.

A year later, Indianapolis hosted the NCAA II Great Lakes Regional and earned a first-round bye as the top seed. Oakland then upset Indy in the second round, 75-72.

This will be the Hounds ninth national tournament appearance in 81 years of basketball. The Hounds made six trips to the NAIA Nationals, compiling a 2-6 record.

Logan All-Region: Sophomore guard David Logan (Indianapolis/North Central) has been voted to the 2003 NCAA II Daktronics Great Lakes Region Second Team by sports information directors in the region.

Logan scored a game-high 26 points in the Greyhounds 78-68 GLVC Tournament setback to 25th-ranked Lewis last Thursday. The two-year starter made 9-15 field goals, 5-8 treys, and 3-4 at the line. He matched his season high with five three-pointers.

Logan has scored 535 points in 2002-03, good for 13th on the UI all-time list. He is second in the GLVC in scoring (19.1), fourth in steals (1.71), sixth in treys per game (2.04), and 14th in assists (3.14) and defensive rebounds (3.79).

Double trouble: Junior center Jason Wright (Martinsville) leads the GLVC in double-doubles in points and rebounds with 11. The 265-pounder just missed another one with nine points and eight rebounds vs. Lewis on Thursday.

Wright is second in NCAA II in field goal accuracy (.670) in the March 4 national statistics. He leads the GLVC in rebounding (9.1) and field goal accuracy, and is second in the league in offensive boards (3.78), fourth in defensive caroms (5.37), and 18th in scoring (13.0).

Seven up: Junior forward Rodney Rollins (Harvey, IL/Triton JC) just missed his seventh straight game scoring in double figures with nine points against Lewis.

He is seventh in the GLVC in scoring (15.6) and 14th in field goal percentage (.525). The 64 leaper has hit at least 50% of his field goal attempts in 12 of his last 15 outings. He is also 14th in the league in free throw percentage (.762).

Hound notes: Soph guard Cory Bennett (New Castle) is fifth in the GLVC in assist/turnover ratio (1.89), seventh in assists (4.18), and tied for seventh in treys per game (1.89).

Lone senior Eric Rhodes (Indianapolis/North Central) is 15th in the league in steals (1.21).
