David Logan - Division II Bulletin Player of the Year

April 4, 2005 - UIndy senior guard David Logan (Indianapolis/North Central) can add another "Player of the Year" honor to his list of accomplishments this season. Logan has been selected the 2005 Division II Bulletin Player Of The Year. Logan led Indianapolis to a 19-10 overall record and a 14-6 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) finish. He finished the season as the top scorer in Division II at 28.6 points per game and was named the GLVC Player of the Year. "David had a great year in every aspect of the game," said DIIB Editor Gary Rubin. "He dominated games when he was on the court and is deserving of this honor." Alaska Fairbanks' Brad Oleson, Lee Cook of Bowie State, Yandel Brown from Columbus State and Concord's Lewis Muse were finalists for the Player of the Year award. The Division II Bulletin covers Division II men's basketball and celebrated its 14th year of publishing this past season. The publication has named a Player of the Year every year since its inception. Logan was named the 2004-05 Daktronics NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Player of the Year in March. He was also selected to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division II All-American Team and the All-District First Team for the Great Lakes Region. Greyhounds head coach Todd Sturgeon says the honors are no accident. Logan is the type who commonly shoots a thousand shots a day in practice and laps his teammates in running drills. "David has worked harder than any player I've ever coached," said Sturgeon, who thinks Logan could have a future in European basketball and maybe the NBA. "It gives me great satisfaction to see a guy who's that driven and focused get recognition like this." A 6-1 guard, Logan led Indianapolis to a 19-10 overall record and a 14-6 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) finish. UIndy's season ended when the Greyhounds lost to Ferris State in the first round of the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Regional at Findlay, Ohio. Logan is the leading scorer in Division II with 28.6 points per game, and was named the GLVC Player of the Year. The honor marked his third straight season as a member of the All-GLVC first team. Logan made 291 of 605 field goals (48.1%), including 121 of 295 three-pointers (41.0%), and shot 78.8 percent from the line (126 of 160) to finish the 2004-05 season with 829 points He stands third in the country in three-pointers made per game. In addition, he led the Greyhounds with 144 assists and 56 steals while pulling down 4.4 rebounds per game. Logan scored in double figures in all but two games this season, with game-high outputs of 46 points against Bellarmine and 42 versus Northern Kentucky. He scored 30-or-more points 13 times and 20-or-more on 26 occasions. He departs as the all-time leading scorer at both Indianapolis and in the GLVC, with 2,352 career points.

He was a Daktronics First Team All-Great Lakes Region choice as both a junior and senior. Logan is a finalist for the Bob Cousy "Point Guard of the Year Award", given annually to the top point guard in the nation, and is one of only 64 players from all three NCAA divisions and NAIA to be invited to the 53rd Annual Portsmouth Invitational Tournament in Virginia on April 6-9.
