Hounds win 20th, Ross sets record

Ross breaks career block record

RENSSELAER, Ind. – For the eighth straight year, the University of Indianapolis volleyball squad has compiled a 20-win season, all coming under the tutelage of Head Coach Jody Butera.  Win number twenty came on the home court of in-state rival Saint Joseph’s by a count of 3-2 (30-26, 30-18, 26-30, 30-32, 15-11).  Individually, senior Lynne Ross became UIndy's all-time leader in total blocks, surpassing the old mark of 531 set nine years ago.

In addition to blocking a match-high six attack attempts, Ross also made an impact offensively by killing 17 balls with a .424 hitting percentage.  Junior Casey Chrzastowski led the Greyhounds in both kills (20) and attack attempts (44) while sophomore Alyssa Carlotta recorded her first career double-double with 14 kills and 16 digs.

Five Hounds set season highs in digs, led by freshman Kyleigh Turner’s 27 and 18 from sophomore Ashley Fallos.  Freshman Brandi McAllister not only shoveled a personal-best 17 digs but also bested her previous high in assists by helping on 55 kills.

UIndy (20-8, 9-5 GLVC) stays on the road for a non-conference match against the GLIAC-leading and undefeated Hillsdale Chargers on Oct. 19.  The Chargers are currently ranked fourth nationally.
