Hounds fall in tough match versus #4 Hillsdale

HILLSDALE, Mich. – In its fourth match in seven days, the University of Indianapolis headed north to face a talented Hillsdale squad, falling by scores of 30-24, 30-19 and 30-26.  Currently ranked # 4 in the nation, Hillsdale improved its record to a spotless 24-0.  The match marked the fifth time the Hounds have faced a top-twenty team this season, with three of those squads owning a national ranking of #9 or better.

The Hounds struggled to find the floor, evident by team hitting percentages of .176, .000, and .119 in the three respective games.  After going down 2-0, the Hounds threaten to take the momentum with a charge late in game three.  UIndy scored eight of eleven points to pull within three in a 29-26 score.  The game and match would end on the next serve, however, as a Greyhound serving error sealed the win for Hillsdale.

The Hounds were led offensively by sophomore Alyssa Carlotta.  Carlotta posted 13 kills on a match-high 37 attack attempts.  Freshman Jessica Breeden paced all UIndy attackers with a .357 hitting percentage, good for seven kills.  Breeden also contributed a team-high two blocks.

Freshman Kyleigh Turner scooped 16 digs while setter Brandi McAllister added six digs to go with her 30 assists.

UIndy (20-9, 9-5 GLVC) returns to the Ruth Lilly Center for its final home match on Saturday, Oct. 21.  The Hounds will face West Virginia State on Senior Day with the match scheduled to start at 3 pm.
