Logan selected in third round of NBA D-League Draft

2006 NBA Development League round-by-round selections

SECAUCUS, N.J.- Former Greyhound standout David Logan was selected in the 3rd round (28th overall) by the Ft. Worth Flyers in the 2006 NBA Development League draft, held Thursday.  Logan, the all-time leading scorer at UIndy and in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, will join report to Ft. Worth's training camp on Nov. 12.

The Ft. Worth Flyers are affiliated with three NBA franchises: Charlotte Bobcats, Dallas Mavericks and Philadelphia 76ers. The D-League is unique in the fact that players do not sign contracts with their teams. Instead all players sign a D-League Standard Player Contract with the league itself. The standard contract is one year in duration, but players are relieved of their contract obligations if they happen to sign a contract with an NBA team at any point during the season. Under the contract players can receive bonuses if their team makes the playoffs or if they earn individual accolades such as Most Valuable Player, Rookie of the Year, and First-Team All League.

The Flyers compiled the best record in the D-League last season, finishing with a 28-20 record before losing to Albuquerque in the D-League Championship.  The Flyers have recently hired five-time NBA All-Star Sidney Moncrief as the team's new head coach.

Logan compiled 2,352 points in his fabulous career at UIndy.  He was named NCAA Division II Player of the Year by Daktronics and the Division II Bulletin. Logan also earned All-American honors from Daktronics, Basketball Times, and the NABC. He was named to the Great Lakes Region First Team by Daktronics his junior and senior seasons and was a unanimous pick for GLVC Player of the year as a senior.

The 6-1 guard spent the 2005-06 year playing in Europe.  He signed with Edimes Pavia in the Italian League, averaging 17.1 points per game in 12 contests with the club.  He then went on to Ramat-Hasharon in Turkey, where he played in 22 contests and averaged 15.4 points per game.
