Hounds sweep past two opponents to open season

UIndy 3, Ouachita Baptist 0

UIndy 3, Montevallo 0

MEMPHIS, Tenn.-  The Greyhound volleyball team got the 2006 season off to a quick start with two 3-0 sweeps at the Christian Brothers Volleyball Classic on Friday.  The wins were team efforts as several different Greyhounds chipped-in to produce the season-opening victories.

In the first match, the Hounds downed Ouachita Baptist, 3-0 (30-22, 30-16, 30-16).  Junior transfer Casey Chrzastowski tallied a match-high 11 kills while three others notched double-digit dig totals, led by freshman Kyleigh Turner's 14-dig effort.  Beth Robbins and Cassie Schott each provided 10 digs in the opener.

Match number two saw more of the same, with the Greyhounds sweeping past Montevallo, 3-0 (30-24, 30-25, 30-15).  Lynne Ross led the UIndy offense with a dozen kills and Turner dug-up a match-high 15.  Robbins pitched-in 33 helpers in the nightcap to give her 68 for the day.

The Greyhounds will close-out the Classic tomorrow with matches against Southern Arkansas and West Alabama.
