Fast starts propel UIndy to sweep of NKU

Box score

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky.-  Senior Lynne Ross tallied 10 total blocks and junior Casey Chrzastowski registered a dozen kills to lead Indianapolis past Northern Kentucky, 3-0 (30-25, 31-29, 30-24) on Friday night.  Ross' block total tied a career-high for a single match and ran her season total to 64, second-most in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

UIndy (14-3, 5-1 GLVC) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first game and did not look back, taking the opener, 30-25.  In game two, the Hounds again got out to a fast start, but had to stave off an NKU comeback as the Norse rallied to take a 20-19 lead.  After a Norse attack error to push the score to 30-29 in favor of UIndy, Ross finished off the game with a kill to give the Hounds a comfortable two-games-to-none advantage.  More of the same in the third game as the Hounds rattled off five straight to open the game and never looked back to gain the victory.

Chrzastowski's 12 kills led the way for the UIndy offense with Ross chipping-in nine finishes.  Elizabeth Shuyler tallied five kills on just six attacks.  Kyleigh Turner had 13 digs and Brandi McAllister added 21 helpers.

The Greyhounds remain on the road and will face Bellarmine on Saturday.  The match is set for a 3:00 p.m. start.
