Box score
ST. LOUIS, Mo.- Junior Justin Barnard scored a season-high 20 points and corralled a team-high nine rebounds as the visiting Greyhounds took a 64-59 win over Missouri-St. Louis at the Mark Twain Building on Monday night. Barnard had eight quick points, hitting on his first four shots as the Hounds earned their first Great Lakes Valley Conference road win this season.
A back-and-forth first half saw eight ties and four lead changes with neither team leading by more than six points. Trailing 26-20, UMSL rallied for an 8-2 run to closeout the opening stanza and knot the score at 28-28 heading into the break.
Coming out of the locker room, UIndy (7-5, 3-2 GLVC) rattled off 10 of the first 13 points, taking the lead and never looking back. That lead would grow to nine before Troy Slaten knocked down a pair of three-pointers to chop the Hounds' lead to four. Slaten later added his sixth triple of the game to put the game within three but they could get no closer as UIndy earned the road win.
Barnard finished the game making 9-of-14 from the floor. DeAndre Brock added 17 points for Indianapolis.
Slaten finished with a game-high 23 points while Octavious Hawkins led all players with 10 rebounds for the Rivermen.
The Greyhounds will put their eight-game road swing to rest when they travel to Rockhurst and Drury this weekend for a pair of conference games. Thursday's matchup with the Hawks is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. CDT tip from Kansas City, Mo.
Notes: Brock was not the leading Indianapolis scorer for the first time in 10 games ... UIndy's last road win in conference play came in the last season's GLVC opener (at Wisconsin-Parkside on Dec. 1, 2005).
