After the teams split the first two games, UIndy took the third frame before pulling out a victory in a tight game four to extend its program-record win streak to 22 matches. Bellarmine (8-15, 4-10 GLVC) had the visiting Greyhounds down 21-16, and later 28-26, but couldn’t close the deal.
With the score knotted at 12 apiece in the fourth game, the Knights rallied to a 20-15 lead, forcing a Greyhound timeout. Indianapolis proceeded to go on a 6-1 run to tie it at 21. However, Bellarmine rebounded to take a 26-24 edge and retake control. The teams traded kills, putting the Knights two points from extending the match to a fifth game. From there, Bellarmine mixed in one kill with five errors to let the Greyhounds off the hook and ensure UIndy's 25th win of the season.
Morrison killed 21 balls on 45 attempts to give her a .400 hitting percentage. By adding 14 digs, the Fort Wayne native recorded her second double-double of the season. Junior
Beth Robbins also had a big match as she contributed a career-high 71 assists. The total represents the second-highest four-game sum in the conference this season.
Freshman
Lyndsay Callahan registered her fourth straight double-double by tallying 14 kills and 18 digs, while sophomore
Kyleigh Turner had a match-high 30 digs.
UIndy remains on the road to face #25 Northern Kentucky at 3 pm on Saturday afternoon. The Hounds topped then-22nd-ranked NKU at the Ruth Lilly Center in the teams’ first meeting earlier this season.
Notes: UIndy's 25 wins this year is their highest total since 2003 (29) … the Hounds' next win will give Head Coach Jody Butera her 250th career victory.
