Hounds travel to NKU, defeat #25 Norse

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - For the second time this season, the #18 University of Indianapolis volleyball team defeated a ranked Northern Kentucky squad, this time in their home gym.  The Hounds (26-1, 15-0 GLVC) dominated the decisive fourth game, taking the match 30-27, 30-16, 32-34, 30-15 at Regents Gym on Saturday afternoon.

The Norse came into the match ranked 25th in the nation and leading the Great Lakes Valley Conference in hitting percentage.  UIndy limited the home team to a .158 percentage for the match, half of their season average.

The Greyhounds won the first two games, but their late rally in game three came up short as the Norse put the match at 2-1.  NKU had the Hounds down 29-25 in the third, but Indianapolis scored the next four points to extend the frame.  The teams traded points to tie it at 32-all, but Northern Kentucky managed back-to-back kills to thwart the come-back bid.

Game four had a much different result as the Norse mustered just 15 points before the Hounds scored 30.  UIndy out-hit NKU .286 to -.057 in the fourth to get the road victory.

Casey Chrzastowski (pictured) compiled 20 kills on a .457 hitting percentage to lead the Hounds offensively.  The senior added seven digs, two block assists and a service ace.  Fellow senior Elizabeth Shuyler recorded 13 kills and five total blocks, while freshman Cheneta Morrison had her second double-double in as many matches by registering 11 kills and 12 digs.

UIndy plays its final non-conference match on the season as it travels to Upland, Ind. to face Taylor on Oct. 23.  Start time is scheduled for 7 pm.
