UPLAND, Ind. - In its final non-conference match of the year, the 17th-ranked University of Indianapolis volleyball team handled NAIA-member Taylor by scores of 30-12, 30-20, and 30-17. UIndy (27-1, 15-0 GLVC) had five players with at least seven kills, including
Alyssa Carlotta (pictured), who hit a team-high .583.
Taylor (27-6, 6-1 MCC) came into the match ranked 21st in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Top 25 poll, but was out-matched by a UIndy squad that has now won a program-record 24 straight contests.
The Hounds out-hit Taylor .258-.064 in their 27th victory of the season. The win total is the second highest in program history, two behind the 2003 squad's 29 wins. The '03 group was the last UIndy volleyball team to earn an NCAA tournament berth.
Both UIndy seniors recorded nine kills in the win.
Elizabeth Shuyler supplemented her total with a .389 hitting percentage and three blocks while
Casey Chrzastowski added five blocks and three service aces. Freshman
Lyndsay Callahan killed eight balls and registered 15 digs while junior
Beth Robbins recorded 42 assists and nine digs.
UIndy enters the final leg of the 2007 schedule as they close out the season with four GLVC contests, three coming at home. The Hounds play host to Wisconsin-Parkside on Friday, Oct. 26. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 pm.
