ROLLA, Mo. – University of Indianapolis Head Volleyball Coach Jody Butera notched her ninth straight twenty-win season Saturday afternoon, as her 20th-ranked squad made short work of Missouri-Rolla in a 30-14, 30-20, 30-16 sweep win at the Bullman Multi-Purpose Building. This year’s twentieth win came in just 21 matches, as UIndy extends its school record win streak to 17 matches.
The Hounds had little trouble with the Lady Miners (3-20, 2-9 GLVC), as game two’s deficit of 10 points was the lowest of the match. The Greyhouds have now held their opponents to 20 points or less in 36 of 62 games won this year.
Indianapolis (20-1, 11-0 GLVC) set a season high by compiling a .350 team hitting percentage. The Hounds entered the week already in the nation’s top twenty in that category. Saturday’s percentage marks the highest road total versus a GLVC opponent since 10/8/05 at Kentucky Wesleyan, also a sweep win.
Many players contributed statistically in the win, with six Hounds reaching double-digits in kills or digs. Offensively, UIndy was led by its two seniors, as
Casey Chrzastowski and
Elizabeth Shuyler both tallied 11 kills. Shuyler led the Hounds’ main attackers in hitting percentage for the second straight match (.476) while adding four blocks.
After completing a perfect 3-0 road trip, UIndy takes a short break from conference play to host Indiana-Southeast on Tuesday, Oct. 9. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 pm.
