Hounds take decisive 6-0 win

UIndy defeats Bellarmine in GLVC play

Brian Fishback tallied two goals in the UIndy win.

INDIANAPOLIS- UIndy found itself back on the winning side of things Sunday afternoon, defeating Bellarmine 6-0 in GLVC action Sunday. The Hounds run their record to 10-3-2 overall, 6-2-1 in GLVC play. With the loss, the Knights fall to 9-6-0 on the year, 5-4-0 in GLVC play.

UIndy took to the scoreboard just once in the first half, with Brian Fishback (pictured) tallying his 10th goal of the year on a penalty kick in the 20th minute.

The offense came alive in the second half for the Hounds, producing five goals to send the Knights home. John Higgins started the goal parade in the 50th minute, with Nick Eddy sending a ball to Higgins off of a botched catch by the keeper. Higgins sent the ball into the right side of the net, beating a defender for his fourth goal of the year.

Fishback then scored his 11th of the year and second of the game in the 59th minute, taking a ball from Josiah Mullen off of a blocked shot. Fishback finished on the ball from 25 yards out into the top left of the goal.

The Hounds got their fourth goal just after then 66 minute mark, with Aaron Gold tallying his second goal of 2007 on an unassisted breakaway to the goal. Gold then assisted along with Jason Kreuzman on a score by Mar Wane just more than seven minutes later. Wane got the ball on a cross from Kreuzeman to Gold, who gave it to Wane for the close-range goal.

Diego Lemus recorded the final goal of the game in the 87th minute, beating the keeper who was on the ground. Wane assisted on the play.

UIndy led the shot battle, 18-6. The Greyhounds also led in corner kicks, taking nine to the Knights' two.

Matt Spaulding and Michael Crane split time in goal for the Hounds. Spaulding earned the win, covering more than 76 minutes of play. He recorded one save, while Crane also tallied a single save in the game.

The Greyhounds return to the road next weekend, traveling to take on Missouri-St. Louis Friday, followed by Missouri-Rolla Sunday. Both are GLVC contests.
