INDIANAPOLIS-  The Greyhound men's basketball team held visiting Missouri-St. Louis to just 20 first-half points in a 69-52 win in the Great Lakes Valley Conference opener for both teams at Nicoson Hall Thursday night.  Junior Braxton Mills poured-in 13 points and tallied nine rebounds in the winning effort.

UIndy (5-0, 1-0 GLVC) was in control throughout, running out to a commanding 13-2 lead in the game's opening five minutes.  UMSL (2-2, 0-1) then followed with ten straight of its own and eventually trimmed it to a single point at 16-15.  The Greyhounds responded with the next 11 points to regain a sizable advantage.

The Hounds would take a comfortable 31-20 margin into halftime, holding the Tritons to just 9-of-30 (.300) from the floor in the first stanza.  Both teams struggled from the free throw line, helping UMSL remain within reach as UIndy hit just 2-of-8 foul shots in the opening 20 minutes.

The Triton drought continued in the second half as UMSL failed to etch a single point in the half until 13:50 remained in the contest, allowing the Hounds to run up a 42-20 cushion.  The run was accentuated by a pair of deep Tyler Kitchel triples, part of his 3-for-4 effort from behind the arc.

The Tritons would get no closer than 13 and the Hounds remained atop the GLVC East division standings.

The scoring was spread out for Indianapolis with six different players netting at least eight points, led by Mills' 13.  Justin Barnard and DeAndre Brock each chipped-in 11 points for the victorious Greyhounds.  Tim Green scored a game-high 18 points for UMSL.

UIndy remains at home and will battle Missouri-Rolla on Saturday in a matinee outing at Nicoson Hall.  The Hounds and Miners are set for a 3:00 p.m. tipoff.
