INDIANAPOLIS - Down by just five with 13 minutes remaining, the University of Indianapolis men's basketball team underwent a 0-for-13 stretch from the field as the Greyhounds fell, 70-51, to second-ranked Grand Valley State at Nicoson Hall on Friday night. Warren Central-product
DeAndre Brock scored 17 points as the only Greyhound in double-figures.
The Lakers (13-0) slowly built a seven-point lead through the opening minutes, but the Hounds would battle to even it at 21-21, marking the game's lone tie. Up by a single point with 5:51 remaining in the first half, Grand Valley rolled off eight straight to create a cushion going into the locker room.
The Hounds (7-2) went into the break down by eight before the Lakers quickly pushed it to eleven after their first two second-half possessions. With 13:02 left, Brock hit a three to cut it to five, but that marked the last UIndy field goal for some 11 minutes. The Grand Valley lead would touch twenty before the visitors went on to the double-digit win.
Brock supplemented his point total with four boards and a steal. Three Greyhounds finished with seven points, including junior
Tristan Rogers, who also finished with a team-high seven rebounds. Senior slasher Nick Freer led all scorers with 23 points for the Lakers.
UIndy returns to action on Sunday evening as it hosts UMass-Lowell at Nicoson Hall for a 5 pm tip.
