UIndy takes final non-conference tilt

Justin Barnard scored 15 points in the win

INDIANAPOLIS - Thanks in part to a 48-point second half, the University of Indianapolis men's basketball team downed fellow Division-II squad Massachusetts-Lowell, 78-63, at Nicoson Hall Sunday evening.  UIndy connected on 50% of its field goals in the final twenty minutes on its way to its highest-scoring half of the season.

Indianapolis (8-2) scored the game's first eight points, including a dunk from Braxton Mills.  The Hounds led for the first 18 minutes before the visiting River Hawks were able to catch up.  A triple from Dashon Harper with 1:18 left in the half gave UML a 27-26 advantage.  Back-to-back jumpers from Justin Barnard and Tristan Rogers put the score at 30-27 Greyhounds at the break.

Just after a Jamael Lynch lay-up cut the lead to one with 15:07 remaining, the Hounds stepped on the gas to orchestrate a 17-5 run to essentially put the game out of reach.  The Hounds added an exclamation point to the rally when junior Keith Radcliff garnered a steal and found a streaking Rogers for a violent one-handed flush.  Ratcliff finished with a career-high eight assists while Rogers added 11 points and seven rebounds.

The River Hawks (4-6) got as close as eight by the five-minute mark, but UIndy scored 19 points the rest of the way to push the gap as high as 16 before garnering its third double-digit win of the year.

Senior guard DeAndre Brock led all scorers with 20 points, a total that included four three-pointers.  Justin Barnard scored 15 while Braxton Mills chipped-in 12 points and six boards.  Though no Hawks reached double-digits, six had at least eight points.

UIndy returns to Great Lakes Valley Conference play as it travels to Wisconsin-Parkside on Jan. 3.  Tip time is scheduled for 8:30 pm ET.  The Greyhounds will bring a 2-0 GLVC record into the intra-division match-up.
