Pumas hand Hounds 82-56 defeat

Box score

INDIANAPOLIS,  Ind.- Saint Joseph's led from start to finish in an 82-56 rout of the UIndy men's basketball team at Nicoson Hall on Monday night.  The Pumas held the Hounds to just 37.9 shooting on the night.

The Greyhound offense sputtered in the opening stanza allowing Saint Joseph's to build a double-digit advantage.  The lead grew to as many as 16 as UIndy connected on just 3-of-15 shots from the floor to start the game.  The Pumas headed to the locker room at halftime with a 34-20 lead.

Trailing 46-22, the momentum was clearly in the hands of the visitors.  A three-pointer from Keith Radcliff and a layup by Tyke Cockerham briefly gave the Hounds a flicker of hope.  But, the Pumas would not let up and the margin stretched to 25.  With a little over 11 minutes to play, the UIndy bench was charged with the task of the steep climb.   The lead was too great to surmount, however, and the Pumas moved past the Greyhounds in the Great Lakes Valley Conference East standings.

DeAndre Brock led the Greyhounds in both points (12) and rebounds (7).  Cockerham (pictured) was 4-for-4 from the floor and 2-of-2 from the line for 10 points.  SJC was led by Ronald Coleman, who poured in 22, one of four Pumas in double figures.

UIndy will host Bellarmine on Thursday at Nicoson Hall.  The teams are both battling for a spot in the GLVC tournament and the winner will have the upper hand heading into the regular season finale on Saturday.
