ROMEOVILLE, Ill.-  Nationally-ranked Lewis University swept a Great Lakes Valley Conference doubleheader from the visiting Greyhound softball team on Sunday afternoon.  The #8 Flyers won game one, 5-2 before an 8-2 win in game two.  UIndy sophomore Lauren Booten tied the school record for homeruns in a career when she homered in her first at bat on Sunday.

Booten's first inning dinger gave the Hounds a brief 1-0 lead until Lewis (26-7, 15-3 GLVC) retied the score on a sacrifice fly in their half on the first inning.  LU added two more in the fourth before Booten tallied her second RBI of the game, a run-scoring groundout to cut the gap to 3-2 in the fifth.

A two-run single in the sixth inning gave the Flyers all the insurance they would need, eventually closing out a 5-2 win in game one.  Amanda Wendlinger took the loss, pitching six innings and allowing five earned runs with four strikeouts.

Game two was scoreless until the bottom of the fourth when LU exploded for five runs.  In the UIndy sixth, the Hounds got two back on Lindsay Maraldo's two-run homer to left center to slice the margin to 5-2.  But, three more Lewis runs in the bottom of that inning sealed the deal, giving LU its 25th win in its last 28 contests.

Maraldo and Colleen Roach each had a pair of hits for UIndy in game two.  Megan Russell was saddled with the loss, allowing all eight runs but recording nine strikeouts in the process.

Booten, whose homer gave her five for the season, tallied the 12th round-tripper of her brief career, tying Tracy Maddix (1997-2000) for most-ever by a Greyhound.

UIndy (20-13, 7-5 GLVC) will continue its roadtrip on Monday, heading to Wisconsin-Parkside for a doubleheader that was originally scheduled for Saturday.
