INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.- University of Indianapolis Head Men's Basketball Coach Todd Sturgeon announced today that Royce Waltman has been added to his staff and will join the Greyhounds for the coming 2007-08 season. Waltman, who was most recently the head coach at Indiana State, was the UIndy head coach from 1992-97.
Waltman will serve as the team's defensive coordinator and will join current Assistant Coach Fred Andrews in the evaluation of opponents. Waltman returns to Indianapolis after a decade with the Sycamores. During his ten years at the helm at ISU, Waltman compiled a 134-164 record, including a 13-18 mark this past season. Under Waltman, the Sycamores took the 2000 MVC regular season title as well as the 2001 MVC Tournament crown and reached the NCAA Division I Tournament twice.

After his playing days, Sturgeon would join Waltman as an assistant coach, posting an 82-29 (.739) ledger in four seasons at DePauw. When Waltman landed the head job at UIndy, Sturgeon followed as his assistant, helping the Hounds to an 89-49 (.645) mark in five seasons and two NCAA Division II tournament berths.
