INDIANAPOLIS - In another impressive performance at the Ruth Lilly Center, the 25th-ranked University of Indianapolis volleyball team needed the minimum three games to down Southern Indiana on Thursday night (30-21, 30-15, 30-22). The Hounds (16-1, 7-0 GLVC) used their 13th sweep of the season to remain perfect in conference play and extend their program-record win streak to 13 matches.
USI (8-7, 3-4 GLVC) led 7-6 early in the first game before
Casey Chrzastowski's service turn came up. The Hounds proceeded to run off eight straight points to grab control. UIndy led by at least five points for the remainder of the game and eventually took a 1-0 lead.
Game two was all Indianapolis as the visitors could only muster 15 points and were held to an even .100 hitting percentage.
Like the previous game, the Greyhounds wasted no time putting points up, as they scored 20 of the first 30 points in the final stanza. With the scoreboard showing a seemingly comfortable 24-14 UIndy lead, the Screaming Eagles fought back by scoring the next four points to force a Greyhound timeout. The Hounds responded by outscoring their opponents down the stretch to take the game 30-22.
UIndy was led by freshman hitter
Lyndsay Callahan. The Chicago, Ill. native upped her team-high double-double total to four by racking up 12 kills and 11 digs. She also added four service aces and a .500 hitting percentage.
Chrzastowski garnered 29 attack attempts, 11 kills and nine digs while fellow senior
Elizabeth Shuyler attacked at a .600 clip and notched 10 kills.
UIndy remains at home to face 12th-ranked Southern Illinois Edwardsville at 3 pm on Saturday in an inter-division match-up. Both teams sport undefeated records in GLVC play.
