FINDLAY, Ohio- The University of Indianapolis held a nearly two-to-one advantage in time of possession in cruising to a 34-3 win over the University of Findlay on Saturday afternoon in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action. UIndy (4-1, 3-1 GLIAC) outgained the host Oilers, 472-112 and surrendered just seven first downs in the win.
Junior tailback Eric Wright (pictured) notched his fifth straight game with more than 100 yards from scrimmage, rushing for 135 yards on 19 carries. He also tallied a pair of touchdowns, giving him scores in each of the five games this season and seven total.
The Hounds held the ball for 39:14, including 21:41 of the second half. Leading the way was UIndy's ground attack, which churned out 286 yards on 48 carries.
It was all UIndy from the start as the Hounds used 10 plays to gain 72 yards for a score and a quick 7-0 Greyhound lead. Wright's 3-yard run capped the drive. The Hounds got a pair of field goal makes from Jace Morrison to post a 13-0 advantage.
UIndy executed a drive late in the opening half that saw Casey Gillin fire a strike to Albert Spears from 17 yards out for a 20-3 halftime edge.
Wright and true freshman Craig Ray each found the endzone in the second half to put the game away. Ray saw his first touches as a collegian in the game and gained 97 yards rushing on 16 carries.
Senior Nick Johnson was the leading Greyhound receiver, catching eight balls for 88 yards.
The Greyhound defense produced five sacks on the afternoon and had 11 tackles for loss. Jamel Williams registered 1.5 sacks, part of 2.5 tackles for loss to lead the way. Kevin Shaw tallied eight total tackles.
Indianapolis will host Hillsdale next Saturday during homecoming week.
Notes: Wright has now accounted for 100+ yards of total offense and scored in every game ... His five rushing TDs ties Craig Jenkins' total from all of last season ... Morrison was 2-for-2 on field goal tries, marking his first two field goals of his career ... He also hit all four PATs to improve to 15-of-15 on the season ...
