ROMEOVILLE, Ill.-  A 16-point first half doomed the visiting Greyhounds in a 66-53 loss to host Lewis Saturday at Neil Carey Arena.  The Hounds never recovered from the sluggish start as the Flyers racked up a lead that grew to as many as 26 at one point.

Both teams stumbled out of the gate, failing to score until the 17:19 mark after 12 possessions combined.  UIndy (9-3, 3-1 GLVC) didn't get its first bucket until nearly four-and-a-half minutes had passed, but still found itself down just two points.

A layup by Tyke Cockerham and a DeAndre Brock triple gave UIndy its first and only lead at 7-6.  Lewis (10-2, 3-1) would score the next six to take the lead for good.  The Hounds drew to within two on another Brock three-pointer with 11:37 remaining in the half, but the Hounds mustered just four points for the rest of the half to fall into a 20-point deficit at the break.

The Hounds hit just 22 percent of their shots in the opening half, contributing to the Lewis advantage.  UIndy would, however, respond with a 60 percent clip in the second half in an attempt to claw its way back into the game.

The lead hovered around 20 for the bulk of the second stanza and stretched to 26 with just 6:37 left in the game.  From there, the Hounds outscored the Flyers 17-4 the rest of the way to chisel the margin down to 13, but were out of time to do any further damage.

Senior Reed Ludlow was productive, hitting on all three shots from the floor, including his first career three-pointer.  The 6-foot-8 post player made his first attempt in three career tries (82 games).

Brock led the Hounds with 12 points while Justin Barnard tallied five rebounds.  Barnard was held scoreless on five shots from the field, the first time he's been held without points in a game since his freshman season (2/19/05 at Wisconsin-Parkside).

UIndy returns home to battle GLVC East foes Northern Kentucky and Bellarmine on Thursday and Saturday, respectively.  Tip time for both contests is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Notes:  UIndy's previous low for points in a half this season was 23 (vs. Lander) ... 16 points marked the lowest half total since UIndy scored 16 second-half points in a 44-43 loss vs. Barry University (12/21/02) ... Barnard remains 16 points shy of 1,000 for his career.
