UIndy 11, Bellarmine 0 (5 inn.)
UIndy 3, Bellarmine 1

INDIANAPOLIS- Come rain, sleet or snow the UIndy softball team will find a way to win, as it proved Sunday with a pair of GLVC victories against Bellarmine at a very chilly Indiana Central Little League. The Greyhounds came away with an 11-0 win in five innings in game one, and then took game two 3-1. The wins improve UIndy's record to 17-11 overall, 9-3 in GLVC play. With the wins, UIndy jumped into a three-way tie with Quincy and Missouri-St. Louis for the conference lead.

GAME 1

The Greyhounds opened the first game with four runs on four hits in the first inning. Megan Russell started the scoring with a two-run shot over the centerfield fence, scoring Maggie Swanson. Ashley Boxley followed with a single, and was brought home on a Jessica Breeden homerun to left center two batters later.

UIndy continued to pile it on the second inning, plating another three runs. Jamie Keltz walked with one out, and scored on a Maggie Swanson homerun a batter later. Russell sent her second ball of the day out of the park for the third run, and in doing so made herself the new UIndy single-season homerun leader. The junior now has 11 homeruns on the season, and is also the UIndy career leader in homers.

The home team put one more run on the board in the bottom of the third with Carmen Martinez coming across to score on an RBI-single from Keltz. UIndy closed out the win with three more scores in the fourth, with Russell starting things off with a single. She was brought around by a two-run bomb from Jenny Swanson. Abby Bartley scored the final Greyhound run, after reaching on a single up the middle. She was plated by an RBI single from Lindsey Gustine.

Russell earned the win in the circle for UIndy, pushing her record to 8-4 on the year. The junior surrendered just two hits while striking out two in five innings for the Greyhounds. Russell also led the offense with her 3-for-3 effort with three RBI.

GAME 2

UIndy again jumped on the Knights early in game two, scoring two of its three runs in the first frame. Keltz led off the inning with a walk, and scored from first on a double by Maggie Swanson down the left field line. Maggie came around to score on an RBI single through the left side by Boxley for the second UIndy run.

The third Greyhound run came in the third inning, on a solo homer from Breeden. J.B. went yahtzee to dead center for her second homerun of the day and the season to close out UIndy's scoring.

Bellarmine pushed across its lone run in the top of the fifth inning, with a one-out walk coming around to score after a single, a passed ball and a pop-out.

Meagan Gutierrez earned her fifth win of the season with the UIndy victory, going the distance while scattering eight hits.

UIndy heads to Urbana, Ohio for a non-conference doubleheader with the Blue Knights Thursday. Game one is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
