INDIANAPOLIS -- Adrian Moss had 25 points, nine assists, six steals and three rebounds to lead UIndy men's basketball past Cincinnati-Clermont, 99-64, in front of 1,116 at Nicoson Hall on Wednesday night.

Wilbur O'Neal added 14 points and career-high 14 rebounds for the Greyhounds (2-0) against the Cougars (3-4), while Jarrett Hamilton scored 20 points for the second game in a row and had five assists, four steals and two rebounds. Reece Cheatham scored 18 points, including four three-pointers, six rebounds, two assists and two steals and Brennan McElroy totaled 10 points, career-high eight rebounds, three assists and three steals.

UIndy forced 31 UCC turnovers, including 21 steals, while only coughing it up 11 times to hold a 41-11 edge in points off turnovers and 22-10 on the fast break. UIndy finished the game shooting 46.9 percent (38-81) and pulled down 21 offensive rebounds on the way to an overall 44-36 edge.

"That's the kind of balance we like to have," head coach Stan Gouard said. "If we keep getting balanced scoring it is going to be hard to stop us. There are some things (on offense) I don't like. We only had 11 turnovers, but they were all unforced turnovers."

The Cougars shot 45.3 percent (24-53) and were led by Darwin Tolliver and Davyne Davis with 12 points, while Clint Boring had 13 rebounds and eight blocks.

"Very disappointed on the defensive end," Gouard said. "We did a bad job of keeping those guys out of the middle. We can score the ball, we've proven that, but we've got to do a better job on our defense. We have a lot to work on and that's why we practice. We'll get after it the next couple days to make the adjustments for Saturday."

Clermont was still within three, 17-14, with 11:56 to go in the first half when O'Neal scored off an offensive rebound to start an 11-2 run that put UIndy up 12, 28-16, after Miles Mitchell made a three-pointer. UIndy continued to stretch the lead to 20, 48-28, just before halftime on a Hamilton three-pointer, but UCC's Tolliver connected at the buzzer for a 17-point margin at halftime, 48-31.

The Greyhounds didn't let the Cougars back in the game and continued to build on the lead in the second half. Moss tossed the ball off the backboard to McElroy for a dunk to put UIndy up 31, 87-56, with 3:22 to play to energize the crowd and put the exclamation point on the evening.

UIndy remains at Nicoson Hall on Saturday at 3 p.m. against Purdue North Central.
