Box Score
INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy basketball team (4-0) remained undefeated on the season with a convincing
120-72 win against versus Cincinnati Clermont Tuesday night. Five Greyhounds scored in double figures, led by junior
Joe Lawson's 25.
Lawson was a force inside for the Hounds as the Indianapolis native needed just 23 minutes to rack up his team-high point total. He added 15 rebounds and four steals while shooting 11-for-13 (.846) from the floor.
Four other Greyhounds reached double figures, including senior
Jared Grady, who amassed 22 points and three steals. Senior
Leland Brown scored 15, sophomore
Cole Adair matched a personal best with 14 points and senior
Reece Cheatham added 11.
The Hounds raced out to a quick 18-5 lead at the first media timeout and didn't let up. UIndy's pressure defense was the driving force, limiting the Cougars' scoring while also leading to a number of easy buckets.
The margin climbed to 33 points at the half with the Greyhounds shooting a gaudy 68 percent from the field in the first 20 minutes. Lawson led the way by hitting all seven first-half field-goal attempts and both free throws.
Things didn't get much better for Clermont in the second half. UIndy continued to generate points off turnovers, finishing with 29 points in the category. Ultimately, UIndy reached its highest point total since Jan. 14, 1988 in a 122-103 win versus Northern Kentucky.
The Greyhounds return to region play when they travel to Oakland City Wednesday, Dec. 4.
Notes: UIndy shot 74 percent from inside the arc...The Hounds had a pair of dunks in the game, including an alley-oop from Leland Brown to Brennan McElroy for the first bucket of the second half.
