BAYAMON, P.R. – The UIndy men's basketball team started its Puerto Rican trip on the right foot Tuesday afternoon, earning a 75-61 win versus the University of Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras.  The Greyhounds (7-0) shot a gaudy 71 percent from the floor in the second half to pull away from the Division-II Gallitos (2-9).

Senior Reece Cheatham led the way with a team-high 20 points, followed by 14 points from senior Tyrae Robinson.  Junior Joe Lawson added 12 points, seven rebounds and four blocks, while senior Brennan McElroy amassed four points, 11 boards and four assists.

UIndy led by as much as 10 in the first half, but 3-pointers from Bryan Martinez helped the Gallitos tie it at 37 apiece late in the first period.  But a McElroy jumper in the final seconds gave UIndy a slim two-point advantage at the break.

Rio Piedras would get as close as one early in the second but never led, as the Hounds' solid shot selection would eventual help widen the gap.  The margin hit a game-high 15 points with just under two minutes to play on a thunderous tip-dunk by Lawson.

UIndy dominated the post, out-rebounding the Gallitos, 45-21, while also out-scoring them, 32-12, in the paint.

The Hounds remain on the beautiful island of Puerto Rico to face UPR-Bayamon – another Division II opponent – tomorrow evening.  Tip time is set for 5 p.m. ET.
