CEDARVILLE, Ohio – The No. 1-ranked UIndy softball team (40-2) picked up a pair of non-conference, in-region wins at Cedarville Wednesday, downing the Yellow Jackets by scores of 5-0 and 6-1.  The victories upped the Greyhounds' season win streak to 33, matching a program record that was set just last year.

GAME ONE

Senior pitcher Jennifer DeMotte was on cruise control to start the game, as the Indy native retired each of the first 15 batters she faced.  The Yellow Jackets (19-18) finally mustered a hit with a leadoff single in the sixth inning.  Cedarville followed with another base knock to put runners at first and second, but DeMotte fanned the next batter then induced a double play to end the threat.

DeMotte (19-0) finished with five Ks and zero walks to earn her 19th win and eighth shutout of the season.

Offensively, the Hounds hung three runs on the board in the third.  Sophomore Samantha Krcelich roped a leadoff triple to left center to start the rally, and after Krysta Bradford coaxed a walk, the Hounds pulled a double steal as Krcelich crossed home with the game's first run.

A bunt single from Kelsey Rummel, a passed ball and a sacrifice fly from Taylor Russell produced the inning's final two runs.

UIndy tacked on two more in the sixth on a Jenny Thompson sac fly and a bases-loaded walk from Bradford.

GAME TWO
UIndy tallied seven base hits on the way to six runs, but the Hounds pushed across their first run without the benefit of a hit;  Bradford started the third by being hit by a pitched ball, advancing to third on a throwing error and touching home plate on an RBI groundout by Erika Goodwin.

Two runs followed in the fifth inning and three more in the sixth.  Thompson delivered the most productive at bat, as her sixth-inning single plated two runs.

Freshman pitcher Morgan Foley (21-2) made her customary game-two start, with an unearned run in the fifth accounting for the Yellow Jackets' lone score of the day.  Foley struck out five while going the distance for the complete-game win.

The Hounds return to GLVC play to host two doubleheaders this weekend.  UIndy welcomes Bellarmine to Baumgartner field Saturday for a noon first pitch.
