INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy men's basketball team made it four in a row to start the season, sending Purdue North Central home with a
98-64 defeat at Nicoson Hall. Six Greyhounds finished in double figures, including season highs of 12 points, eight assists and four steals from senior
Dai-Jon Parker.
Â
The Hounds' final field goal percentage of .635 was its highest in nearly six years. Senior
Brennan McElroy, who was a perfect 8-for-8 from the floor, recorded a team-best 19 points to go with eight rebounds and four dimes.
Â
Junior
Lucas Barker notched his second double-double in as many games, compiling 13 points and 11 assists. Senior
Joe Lawson had 16 points, junior
Jordan Loyd went for 13 while freshman
Eric Davidson added 10 off the bench.
Â
The Greyhounds (4-0) led wire-to-wire, leading by as many as 41 points late in the contest. UIndy had the pedal down from the tip, nailing three consecutive 3-pointers to start the game, including two from Barker. UIndy built a 21-5 margin by the first media timeout before taking a 54-25 advantage into halftime.
Â
The Hounds shot a gaudy 70 percent from the floor in the first 20 minutes before finishing at 63.5 percent. UIndy had not had a better shooting percentage in a game since it sank 27-of-42 attempts (.643) versus Saint Joseph's Jan. 31, 2009.
Â
The Greyhounds remain home for the upcoming holiday as they host the four-team UIndy Thanksgiving Classic Nov. 28-29. A pair of in-region opponents awaits the Hounds, starting with a Friday match-up with Tiffin Friday at 7:45 p.m.
