OWENSBORO, Ky. – UIndy baseball dropped a close 6-5 game at G-MAC member and regional opponent Kentucky Wesleyan Wednesday afternoon.
The hosts jumped ahead with three runs on four hits and a Greyhound error in the third. UIndy's
Pete Allen surrendered RBI singles to Seth Sharp and Johnathan Eberhardt as Kentucky Wesleyan grabbed an early 3-0 lead.
UIndy broke the scoring seal in the top of the fourth when
Sean McCracken drove in
Anthony Asalon, but the Panthers got the run back in the bottom of the frame to make it 4-1 after four complete.
KWC starter Andrew Moralez had some command issues in the top of the fifth, allowing UIndy to score two runs after two walks and two hit-batsmen. The Panthers called in Evan Mohr out of the bullpen, but with the bases loaded the righty plunked McCracken to bring home
David Gunst. Asalon then scored on a wild pitch, bringing the fifth inning total to four runs on zero hits.
The Panthers quickly regained the lead in the sixth, scoring two on UIndy reliever
Adam Cornwell to take the decisive 6-5 advantage.
McCracken led the Hounds going 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs, and Asalon was 1-for-3 with two runs scored.
The Greyhounds return to conference action with a four-game tilt at Bellarmine starting Friday.
