INDIANAPOLIS – Another former UIndy men's basketball standout is heading to the pros.
Brennan McElroy – a two-time GLVC All-Defensive Team selection – signed a contract with Germany's ProB team Saarlouis Royals. ProB is the third-highest level league of professional basketball in Germany, and is officially part of the 2. Basketball Bundesliga, which consists of the two hierarchical leagues (ProA and ProB).
McElroy made an impact on and
off the court for the Greyhounds, finishing the 2014-15 season averaging 10.4 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.8 steals per game. He also shot a remarkable .674 from the floor, helping him finish first in program history with a .685 career field goal percentage.
He'll join a Saarlouis club that finished 8-20 during the 2014-15 season, but featured the ProB leading scorer in Ricky Easterling (22.9 ppg).
The Decatur, Ill., native becomes the second Hound from the 2014-15 squad to sign a pro deal, joining
Joe Lawson, who inked with Germany's ProA side Gotha Rockets.
