OAKLAND CITY, Ind. – The University of Indianapolis baseball team made it a three-game sweep of Oakland City University on Sunday, cranking out 16 hits in a 15-7, nine-inning triumph.

Senior
Anthony Asalon went 3-for-3, belting a pair of home runs and driving in three for the Greyhounds, wrapping up a weekend that saw him compile a .667 batting average with eight hits and five RBI.

Kyle Orloff launched his team-leading fourth home run of the year and drove in four for UIndy, who moved to 4-2 on the year.

The Greyhounds wasted no time getting on the board when Asalon led the game off with a solo shot over the left field wall. UIndy tacked on three more runs with two outs in the inning thanks to three consecutive run-scoring singles from
Carter Pranger,
Joe Trennepohl and
Bryce Aldridge to make it a 4-0 game.

Trennepohl added to the lead with his second RBI single of the game in the top of the third and the Hounds added two more runs in the fourth thanks to a two-run single from Orloff that made it 7-0 Greyhounds.

Just as the Hounds appeared poised to run away with the game, the Oaks started to rally, cutting into the UIndy lead with four runs in the fourth and another in the fifth to trim the lead to 7-5.

Orloff added a pair of insurance runs with a two-run round tripper in the top of the seventh, but Oakland City answered with two runs of their own in the bottom of the inning to make it a 9-7 game.

Once again, UIndy answered with a pair of runs in the eighth inning, getting another lead-off homer from Asalon and a sacrifice fly from Pranger to stretch the lead to 11-7.

The Hounds put the game out of reach with four more runs in the top of the ninth, getting a sac fly from Asalon and cashing in for three unearned runs later in the inning to cap the scoring.

Jeff Lavin earned his first career win for the Greyhounds after tossing 2 1/3 innings of one hit ball in relief. Conner Mailloux lasted just 3 2/3 innings, four runs (two earned) on seven hits.
Dylan Stutsman tossed the last 2 2/3 innings, giving up a pair of hits while striking out four.

The Greyhounds return home next weekend for a four game set against Lake Erie College, starting with a single nine inning contest on Friday afternoon. First pitch is set for 2:00 p.m.
