Hounds fall in rematch against McKendree

LEBANON, Ill. – For the final 45 minutes of game time, UIndy (2-5) battled the host Bearcats to a one goal differential. However, McKendree (3-3) scored the game's first five goals to grab an insurmountable lead, defeating the Hounds 12-6 and completing the season sweep.

McKendree's Dana DiPasquale had a hand in each of the Bearcats' first four goals, assisting on three, while scoring a goal of her own. Freshman Hana Priddy found the back of the cage off a Hannah Burczyk feed at the 14:45 mark, but the Hounds had already found themselves facing a 5-0 deficit.

Burczyk would add a goal, and Sydney Hauffman tallied the Greyhounds' third with under a minute in the first half.

With a pair of goals in the second half, Hauffman became the fifth different Greyhound to lead the team in scoring for a game. Her hat trick also upped her season total to ten, tied for second best on the team with Priddy.

Despite the six goal difference on the scoreboard, the statistics shed a different portrayal. The two teams were nearly identical in the shots department, with McKendree holding a slight 25-24 advantage in shots, while the Hounds had one more shot on goal (21-20).

Indianapolis turned the ball over just one more than did Bearcats (18-17), and both teams converted exactly 68 percent of their clear attempts.

It was the work of recently named GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week Amy Porta that made the difference. She turned away 16 Greyhound shots, less than a week after making 25 saves in two games in Colorado.

Chalane Morrison added her team-leading 12th goal of the season.

UIndy and McKendree have now met for both of their meetings before the Hounds have faced another GLIAC opponent.

That next opponent happens to be one of the top teams in the country. The Hounds will travel to Michigan on Saturday for a meeting with No. 8 and three-time reigning GLIAC champion Grand Valley State.
