INDIANAPOLOS – Tiffin (7-5, 5-2 GLIAC) dominated the draw circle, gathering 20 of the game's 22 draw controls, and outshot the Hounds by a commanding 38-16 margin en route to a 15-5 win over UIndy (5-7, 3-4 GLIAC).
The loss ended the Greyhounds' program best three-game winning streak and marked the most goals surrendered by the Hounds since a 15-4 loss to eighth-ranked Grand Valley State back on Mar. 26.
It was a dominant effort from the Dragons in the first half, winning all 13 draw controls and scoring the final seven goals of the frame to take a 10-2 lead at the break. Tori Nelson scored four of her game-high five goals in the first half and for the game, Nelson led the way with nine draw controls.
Irene Carlquist was able to keep the Hounds within a respectable margin, turning away 15 of the Dragons' 38 shots. It was the freshman's second-highest save total in a game, one fewer than in a 16-save performance in a Mar. 5 loss to McKendree.
Tiffin's win, coupled with an 18-15 shootout victory over McKendree Friday night, moves the Dragons firmly into second place in the conference. The conference's top two teams will be awarded a bye in the GLIAC tournament.
For the Greyhounds, it was all
Chalane Morrison, offensively. The junior added to her team-lead in goals, tallying four on the day, moving her season total to 25.
