DANVILLE, Ill. – The UIndy men's basketball team hit the road Saturday afternoon just under 48 hours removed from their win over Bluefield State Thursday night, to take on. The Hounds defeated the Tigers 82-78, stringing together back-to-back wins for the first time since late November.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Things did not come easy for the Hounds early on despite taking the lead early on. The Hounds never squandered the lead despite the fight the Tigers put up. Turnovers and defensive breakdowns forced coach
Stan Gouard to take two timeouts in the first half. Coach Gouard used his team's depth to his advantage early, senior
Jabree Bond-Flournoy saw action back in his home state of Illinois while several other Hounds earned minutes early on. A Tiger technical foul sent
Eric Davidson to the foul line with just over six minutes to go in the half, Davidson hit front-iron on his first attempt before sinking the second. With the half winding down, Davidson hit his first three-pointer of the day in the team's final possession, but the Tigers hit a deep three as the half ended, cutting the Greyhound lead to 42-37 going into the half.
Â
The second half started out strong for the Hounds with
Jesse Kempson getting an early bucket off a
Devin Dixon assist and Davidson hitting his second three of the day just a couple plays later. The Hounds could not put the Tigers away as they went into the under-eight media timeout only holding a three-point lead heading into crunch time. The Tigers came out of the timeout forcing a pair of Greyhound turnovers and taking a two-point lead over the Hounds after a quick layup and a deep three. A pair of layups by CJ Hardaway Jr and
Tate Hall gave the Greyhounds a two-point lead with just over five minutes left to go. After the Tigers took the lead, UIndy took a timeout with 31.2 seconds to go, trailing by a point. Coming out of the break,
Jesse Kempson hit a layup to give the Hounds a one-point lead with 15.3 seconds left. After a Tigers missed jumper,
Alex Etherington pulled down the board for the Hounds, after being fouled, Etherington hit his first free-throw but missed the second, giving the Tigers another chance. The Tigers turned the ball over and sent Etherington to the free-throw line where he hit both attempts, sealing the win for the Hounds.

HOUND BYTES
"We got a lead in the first half but couldn't quite pull away," said coach
Stan Gouard. "I was disappointed in our defense and our offense was stagnant, so we've got some work to do over Christmas break. But give my guys credit, we found a way down the stretch; we made some key plays and grabbed some big rebounds.
Â
"I'll take the win. It was ugly, but at the same time, I'll take it."
