CLERMONT, Fla. – In the last of nine contests at the PFX Spring Games in Clermont, Fla., the 20th-ranked UIndy softball team (17-5) notched wins versus Indiana (Pa.) and California (Pa.) Wednesday, winning 5-3 and 13-3, respectively. The Greyhounds finished their annual Spring Break trip with an 8-1 record in the Sunshine State.

Freshman starter
Lauren Honkomp continued her win streak, earning her 12th consecutive victory in the circle. In her ninth complete game of the season, the rookie hurler scattered nine hits while striking out five and walking zero. She is now averaging just over one free pass per seven innings.

Offensively, the Hounds scored in the first inning for the third straight game, hanging two on the board before the Crimson Hawks (5-4) took an AB.
Jessie Noone sparked the rally with a one-out triple, followed by an HBP by
Dani Turner, a walk by
Natalie Lalich and a sac fly by
Tayler Weck.

A solo home run from
Katie Kelly came in the second, while a two-run single from Lalich in the fifth capped the Hounds' scoring.

UIndy 13, California (Pa.) 3, 5 innings
UIndy broke a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the third with a massive 10-run surge. Sixteen Hounds stepped to the plate in the frame, with
Cathy Skaggs' three-run triple highlighting the action.

Crystal Sicard (5-3) went 4 1/3 innings to earn the pitching win.

After 22 games away from Baumgartner Field, the Greyhounds will finally have their home opener this weekend. Currently, UIndy is scheduled to host Drury Saturday at noon. However, the weekend forecast may push that doubleheader back. Stay tuned to UIndyAthletics.com for any forthcoming changes.
