Hounds force 19 turnovers in win over Wilberforce

INDIANAPOLIS - The UIndy men's basketball team (6-0) won its sixth straight game to start the season on Friday afternoon, defeating Wilberforce University, 95-79. The Greyhounds led by as many as 22 in the second half, and held the lead for over 38 minutes in the win.

Jordache Mavunga recorded his second straight double-double against the Bulldogs, totaling 26 points and 12 rebounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hounds grabbed a 30-18 lead before the Bulldogs made it a game late in the first half. A three-ball shrunk the Greyhound advantage to 46-43 before Marcus Latham answered with a three-pointer of his own moments later to send the home team into the locker room with a six-point lead.

Just as it did in the first half, UIndy drew a big lead right after halftime. Jacob Polakovich sunk a pair of free throws to give the Hounds a 22-point cushion, but the Bulldogs forced a comeback attempt and trailed by just 12 five minutes later. Two straight dunks by Jesse Kempson and free throws by Mavunga all but ended the threat, however, as UIndy snuck away with a victory.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Mavunga has now posted three double-doubles this season after the win on Friday. The junior filled up the box score against the Bulldogs, adding three blocks, two assists, and two steals to his 26 points and 12 rebounds.

Overall, nine Greyhounds tallied an assist against the Bulldogs, including a game-high six from CJ Hardaway. Jimmy King handed out four helpers, while Kempson dished out three.

Freshman Gunner Wilder scored his first collegiate points, hitting nothing but nylon on a baseline jumper in the final minute.

The Hounds have gone to the free throw line at least 20 times in five of the team's six games so far this season. UIndy sunk nearly 77 percent of its attempts on Friday, while Hardaway and Kempson each made six.
