CHARLESTON, W.V. - The No. 24-ranked University of Indianapolis Greyhounds' women's lacrosse team defeated the Charleston Golden Eagles on the road on Sunday, 22-3.
The Golden Eagles scored first, but it was the only lead they would have in the game as the Greyhounds scored six unanswered goals in response and took a 9-3 lead to halftime.
The second half featured more of the same as the Hounds scored 13 goals in the period, giving up none on their way to a convincing 22-3 win. The goal total marks a high point in the young season while matching the second-highest total in the program's three-year history.
Eleven different Greyhounds scored, led by
Abigail Lagos' five goals.
Delaney Davidson scored four and both
Anna Rulapaugh and
Grace Gunneson put together hat tricks.
Peyton Romig won an impressive 20 draw controls,
Riley McClure caused six turnovers and won four ground balls andÂ
Irene Carlquist saved four shots in goal (57.1%).
The Hounds will host Wheeling Jesuit on Saturday, March 3 at 1 p.m. at Key Stadium.
