GREENWOOD, Ind. - The No. 7 UIndy men's tennis team capped off its regular season with its seventh-straight victory, sweeping GLVC-rival Southern Indiana on Friday afternoon at Center Grove High School. The Greyhounds celebrated three seniors prior to the match:
Christoph Drechsler,
Dean Dumitru, and
Andrea Morlet.Â
The Hounds kicked off the win with three doubles wins, with No. 1 pairing and 20th-ranked duo Morlet and
Renato Lima finishing first with an 8-3 triumph.
Nils Hoffacker and
Dario Huber concluded No. 3 doubles with an 8-4 win, after entering the rankings for the first time at No. 41 this past week.
Magnus Mueller and Drechsler sealed the doubles sweep, completing a 9-8 win at No. 2 slot.Â
Hoffacker earned a straight-set victory at No. 1 singles for the Hounds after finding his way back into the top-50 Division II players. Mueller handled business in the No. 4 spot, winning 6-4, 6-1. Lima, who won easily in the first set 6-0, surrendered just two games in the second set to cruise to the win.Â
Drechsler completed a perfect senior day with a win at No. 5 singles, while
Matteo Videau won 6-2 in each set for the victory. Huber wrapped up the sweep with a win at No. 3 singles, winning 6-1, 6-4.Â
The Greyhounds will await the official GLVC release before beginning conference tournament action next weekend in Springfield, Mo.
