INDIANAPOLIS – The No. 15 UIndy softball team (30-10, 14-4 GLVC) celebrated its annual "Team Liam Day" with a pair of wins against visiting Truman (20-14, 9-9) Friday. The highlight came after the victories when the Greyhounds presented young Liam and his family with a check for $10,024.24 on behalf of UIndy softball.
Â
The term Team Liam was adopted in honor of Liam Ealy, nephew of Greyhound softball alum Megan (Hall) Slightom. Liam, who was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy at a young age, was on hand to visit with the team as well as throw out a pitch.
Â
The Hounds' total money raised this season marked a record high for team's longtime initiative, part of $44,000 raised in the last six years combined.

GAME 1 | UIndy 8, Truman 4
Trailing 2-1, the Greyhounds broke it open with a five-spot in the bottom of the third.
Taylor Podschweit got things started with a one-out single, followed by an RBI double from
Taylor Danielson, and finally a back-breaking grand slam by
Julia Liceaga. It marked the first career salami for the Joilet, Ill., native, and fourth by a Greyhound this season.
Â
The Bulldogs would later bring the potential tying run to the plate in the seventh, but reliever
Katelyn Fisher squelched the rally with back-to-back strikeouts with the bases loaded to earn her second save of the year. Sophomore
Lauren Honkomp (11-5) got the win, scattering nine hits while fanning seven in 6 1/3 innings.
Â
GAME 2 | UIndy 4, Truman 1
The Hounds got some late heroics in game two to earn the comeback win. Facing a 1-0 deficit in the bottom of the sixth and still searching for its first hit, UIndy pushed across four runs to take its first lead of the game.
Â
Pinch-hitter
Annika Radabaugh worked a hard-fought walk to lead off the frame, followed by another base on balls by
Jessie Noone.
Gianni Iannantone took one on the arm to load them up for Danielson, who delivered the game winner with a single to center – the lone hit of the game for the Hounds. She was credited with a pair of ribbies, with Iannantone's run coming home on a subsequent error by the Truman center fielder. Danielson later crossed on a wild pitch to cap the scoring at four.
Â
Freshman hurler
Halie Waters earned the complete-game win in the circle. She struck out five Bulldogs, with her only run allowed coming on a solo homer in the third.
