MARQUETTE, Mich. – The UIndy women's lacrosse team (13-3, 9-2 GLIAC) cruised to another conference victory on Friday night at Northern Michigan (2-10, 1-10 GLIAC), 25-8. After scoring a program-record 27 goals back on April 6 against the Wildcats, the Greyhounds poured in another 25 in tonight's victory to record 52 in two wins against the Green and Gold.
Â
Freshman
Abigail Lagos scored a season-high six goals, while
Grace Gunneson and
Anna Rulapaugh tallied four for the Hounds. UIndy set new records offensively, launching 58 shots and 44 on goal.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
After Northern Michigan scored the first goal of the game, UIndy rattled off 10 straight in a span of 13 minutes. Lagos and Gunneson traded goals for the Greyhounds for the first eight scores before
Hannah Burczyk and
Cara Brown capped off the run with tallies of their own.
Â
Delaney Davidson and Rulapaugh got in on the fun late in the first half, each scoring their first goal of the game after scores by Lagos and
Lauryn Hardoy to make the score 14-3 at the break.
Â
The Hounds found the back of the cage eight times before the Wildcats scored again, with Hardoy being credited with two of the first four.
Emily Meyer scored her fourth goal of the season to make the score 19-3 just eight minutes into the second half, then Burczyk scored twice more immediately after.
Â
Gina Jablonski,
Abby Wilmot, and
Sarah Konecny each got in the scorebook near the end of the contest with goals, as Northern Michigan heated up its offense a little too late. The goal by Konecny sealed the 25-8 victory with the final score of the game with just under three minutes left.
Â
