GAME 1 | USI 24, UIndy 7
USI left fielder Drake McNamara set the tone in the first with a home run in the top of the first, as the Eagles went on to build a 10-0 lead over the first four innings.
Â
The Hounds managed a big rally in the bottom of the fourth to make a game of it, briefly at least. UIndy loaded the base with one out, and a hit batsman (Joop) and a pair of walks (
Hunter Waning and
Kyle Orloff) followed to get the Greyhounds on the board. Jones added an RBI single ahead of
Macy Holdsworth's three-run bomb that pulled the Hounds to within three.
Â
The Eagles scored four runs in the fifth and piled on in the seventh to pull away.
Â
GAME 2 | USI 13, UIndy 10 (11 inn.)
After a lengthy weather delay in the first, the teams traded punches in the capper and eventually needed extra innings to decide it.
Â
Joop broke a 2-2 tie in the fourth with a three-run double, while Miller snapped a 5-5 tie with a two-run homer in the fifth.
Â
Holdworth and
Joe Kenney both added RBI doubles to give the Greyhounds a 10-7 lead in the seventh, but the Eagles battled back to tie it again the next inning and eventually scored the game-winning run in the 11th.
