KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The UIndy women's basketball team (10-17, 4-13 GLVC) avenged an early-season loss to Truman (21-6, 12-5 GLVC) on Thursday evening, using a fourth-quarter comeback to force overtime and down the Bulldogs in overtime, 75-70.
Truman was ranked sixth in the last Midwest regional poll that was released on Wednesday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Emma Benoit, who recorded her eighth double-double of the season, kept the Greyhounds in the game through regulation. Trailing by 11 points at halftime, Benoit scored 12 points and grabbed five rebounds in the second half.
Sophomore
Taylor Drury scored the first seven points of the fourth quarter to put the Hounds within three before a Benoit layup and
Laura Thomas free throws forced overtime.
A good jumper by Thomas with under four minutes left gave UIndy its first lead since midway through the first quarter, scoring 10 straight Greyhound points. The UIndy defense held Truman to just 15 points the final 15 minutes to fuel the comeback.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Benoit recorded 15 rebounds in the win, her highest total of the season. The junior transfer has grabbed double-digit boards on eight occasions, while Benoit came just one point shy of matching her UIndy best.
Half of Thomas's points came in overtime, as the junior finished with 20 tallies on Thursday. The New Castle product grabbed a season-best seven rebounds in the win, while also dishing out a game-high four assists.
The Greyhounds dominated on the glass, pulling down 46 rebounds compared to the Bulldogs' 27. UIndy also utilized its 11 offensive boards, scoring nine second-chance points.

The Hounds will conclude their season on Saturday afternoon at Quincy with tip scheduled for 2 p.m. UIndy dropped a conference matchup to the Hawks on January 3 in Nicoson Hall.
