INDIANAPOLIS – The #20 Greyhounds took on GLVC foe Bellarmine on Saturday, sweeping the Knights on senior night. The men's tennis team celebrated three seniors in
Nils Hoffacker,
Matej Kostadinov and
Magnus Mueller. The 7-0 victory was bittersweet, as Indianapolis competed for the final time this season at the Indianapolis Tennis Center.
The Greyhounds kicked off doubles with three wins, each tallying a final score of 6-1.
Renato Lima and Mueller were the first duo to complete the 6-1 victory over their Knight counterparts. Hoffacker and
Maximilian Witthaus became victorious next, with the #8 team of
Dario Huber and Kostadinov were the last group to finish. Being up 1-0, Indianapolis looked to continue their hot-streak in singles.
#35 Hoffacker made quick work of his Knight opponent, finishing the first singles match on a score of 6-4, 6-3. Indianapolis' #4 Lima proved why he's one of Division II's best competitors, as he slammed home another victory on a final score of 6-1, 7-5. Witthaus secured a team win, as a score of 6-3, 6-4 crowned him the victor of his singles match. Mueller earned his final singles victory at the Tennis Center, rolling home his score of 6-3, 6-0. Kostadinov ended his last match at the Tennis Center in style, sweeping his opponent 6-0, 6-0.
Ariel Farji came in for the Greyhounds and took home the final team point for Indianapolis, concluding the match on a definitive 6-3, 6-0 victory.
Indianapolis moved up to 9-4 on the season, 2-0 in the GLVC. They'll pack their bags and travel north, as the Greyhounds take on Western Michigan in Kalamazoo, Michigan tomorrow. Indianapolis will take on their Division I opponent at 4 P.M. on Sunday, March 31.
