INDIANAPOLIS – The 17th-ranked UIndy softball team (28-10) ventured out of conference play Wednesday afternoon as they welcomed in-region Ohio Dominican (22-14) to Baumgartner Field. The visiting Panthers slipped past the Greyhounds, 2-0, in the game one, but the UIndy offense generated 11 hits on the way to a convincing 9-1 victory in the five-inning capper. The latter result snapped ODU's 14-game winning streak.

Starter
Halie Waters (13-6) was the tough-luck loser in game one. Â She walked zero and struck out four in the complete-game effort, but two unearned runs in the third proved to be the difference. The Panthers, who sport a perfect 12-0 record in G-MAC play, put the leadoff hitter on in the third inning via a throwing error. A double and a single later followed to push across two fatal tallies.

Brooke Montgomery provided a pair of singles to the cause, while
Gianni Iannantone had a knock and two walks.

#17 UIndy 9, ODU 1 (5 inn.)
UIndy jumped on the Panthers in the second inning, going double/homer/double/single to start the frame and push across three quick runs. Iannantone kick started the surge with a leadoff two-bagger, and
Haylie Foster followed with a missile to center field to give the Hounds their first lead of the day.

Taylor Danielson extended the rally with her fourth double of the season and came around to score on Montgomery's base hit.

UIndy piled on with four more runs in the third, highlighted by a two-run single a
Kamrie Foster. The game ultimately ended on in the bottom of the fifth on
Taylor Podschweit's RBI single, giving the Hounds the needed eight-run edge.

Lauren Honkomp (13-3) continued to impress in the circle, tossing three scoreless innings to earn her fifth win in as many decisions. H. Foster, who toed the rubber for just the second time this season, pitched the final two frames.

The Greyhounds return to conference play when they host Lewis University for a doubleheader this Saturday. First pitch from Baumgartner Field is scheduled for noon Eastern.
