INDIANAPOLIS – The No. 12 UIndy women's lacrosse team (11-1, 7-0 GLIAC) completed the season sweep of Maryville University (1-11, 0-9 GLIAC) on Friday evening at Key Stadium, downing the visiting Saints by a score of 22-1.

The Greyhounds outscored the Saints by a combined total of 51-2 in the teams' pair of contests this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Jess Soenen opened the scoring with what would be her first of five goals on the night.
Emily Meyer and
Krista Temple quickly added goals of their own, before
Sarah Konecny and
Peyton Romig capped off the 5-0 run to begin the contest.

After a Maryville score at the 23:13 mark of the first half, the UIndy defense did not allow the visitors to find the back of the cage the rest of the night.
Grace Gunneson registered each of her seven points in the first 30 minutes, scoring three times and adding four assists.

UIndy outscored Maryville, 7-0, in the final 30 minutes, as
Kylie Backus notched a hat trick. The Greyhound offense possessed the ball nearly the entirety of the second half, with
Hannah Burczyk and
Riley McClure getting into the scoring column.

As a defensive unit, the Hounds caused 13 of the Saints' 18 turnovers, while the offense coughed the ball up just eight times. Maryville managed to clear the ball a measly four times on 13 attempts.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
McClure tied her single-game record with seven ground balls for the second time this season after first tallying it a season ago against Davenport. The junior also secured three draw controls and caused two turnovers.

Julia O'Brien finished with five points, the third-highest mark of her freshman campaign. The rookie out of Watertown, N.Y. handed out four helpers, with Gunneson also recording four assists.

Romig was dominant once again in the draw circle, totaling 15 wins, while adding three caused turnovers, three ground balls, and two points.

Cassidy King faced just two shots in 30 minutes, making one saves … King caused two turnovers and picked up three ground balls … Soenen has now scored five times in two straight games, and ranks fourth on the team with 22 goals this season … Maryville's Claire Martin scored the team's lone goal of the contest, and won five draw controls in the loss.
