HOW IT HAPPENED
The undefeated Saints opened the scoring just 38 seconds into the game, before the teams went the next eight minutes without a goal. UIndy had nine shots in the opening quarter, but failed to sneak any past Limestone keeper Danny Forren. The Saints scored four more in the first frame to build a 5-0 advantage.
Â
The Greyhounds looked poised to comeback, as they have done so all season, netting two of the first three goals of the second quarter with scores from
Shawn Kimble and
Parker Kump. However, Limestone locked down on defense and tallied the final three goals of the half to lead 9-2 at the break.
Â
UIndy began the second half similarly to the previous period, getting goals from
Parker Johnson and
Jake Zickel in a 48-second span to trail by six. Limestone ended the third and began the fourth with two goals, eventually stretching its advantage to 16-5. Freshman
Drew Billig scored the final two goals of the game before the final buzzer sounded.
